Stockbridge Ramsdell House on Hudson, an elegant Queen Anne Victorian, is located in the beautiful historic district of Newburgh, New York. It was built in 1870 as the family home of Homer Stockbridge Ramsdell, who was president of the Erie Railroad and instrumental in bringing the railroad to Newburgh. It is situated on a hill above the Hudson River with panoramic river views.
Transportation We are approximately 55 miles from Manhattan and accessible by public transportation via MetroNorth to Beacon. From the Beacon train station you can take a ferry or taxi to Newburgh.
Guest Rooms Our five gracious guest rooms are air-conditioned in season and furnished with antiques and luxurious linens. Room rates range from $140-$225/night, double occupancy. Several of our rooms can accommodate a third person for an additional charge of $40/night.
The Ferry Crossing room provides a king-sized bed and daybed, private bath, and a private outdoor deck with a spectacular Hudson River view.
The Bridge View room is furnished with two double beds. It has a river view and private bath.
The Beau Rivage room has a queen-sized bed, twin sleeper sofa, and private enclosed porch with a daybed and river view. It includes a fireplace and private bath.
The Queen Anne room is furnished with a queen-sized bed and daybed. It has a fireplace and river view.
The Castle Island room has a seasonal river view and accommodates guests with a queen-sized bed.
Retreats Stockbridge Ramsdell is available for your group's retreat, meeting, or catered event.
Hospitality Your stay will include a full breakfast with fruit and juice, homemade baked goods, and hot entrée with side dishes. Coffee and tea available at all times upon request. In season, breakfast is served on our cheerful sun porch overlooking the Hudson River. In colder weather enjoy breakfast in front of the fireplace in our formal dining room. The common area also includes a parlor with fireplace and game table.
Local Attractions Stockbridge Ramsdell House is within walking distance of the Newburgh Marina which has a variety of restaurants, spa, wine shop, and independent movie theater. Tour boats leave from the marina as well. We are minutes away from Washington's Headquarters, Storm King Art Center, West Point, and Dia Beacon. The area also offers antiquing, hiking, shopping at Woodbury Commons, historic Hudson River museums and mansions, wineries, farm stands, and orchards. There are many festivals and cultural events throughout the year.
Policies Book two nights and stay a third night at one-half price. We require a two-night minimum on holiday weekends.
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. A 50 percent deposit is required to hold your reservation. Full refund less 10 percent service charge will be given if cancellation is received ten days before reserved date. If cancellation is received fewer than ten days before reserved date, refund will be given only if we are able to rebook the room. No refund given if cancellation is received three days before the reserved date.
Children welcome. Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets. Smoking permitted in outside areas.
