Located in the heart of rural New York yet only 60 miles from New York City and 25 minutes from Woodbury Common, the northeast's largest premier shopping mall. Historic Sugar Loaf Crafts village is only 10 minutes away and offers a unique shopping opportunity to purchase handmade crafts. Dairy farms, apple orchards, wineries and fine restaurants, antique shops and boutiques are nearby and available for your enjoyment. In winter, skiing is 5 minutes away at Mountain Creek ski resort and in the summer enjoy the water park. Throughout the year enjoy nature and hiking on the Appalachian Trail, nearby state parks and nature preserves. Greenwood Lake, Orange county's largest lake is 15 minutes away on the other side of Mount Peter. Golf at any of the eight nearby golf courses including Pine Island's Scenic Farms golf course one mile away .
ROOMS
Three exquisitely furnished and lovely romantic guestrooms with Queen beds, plush down comforters, spa robes and private baths provide you with a romantic, relaxing stay. The Gala suite offers a beautiful sitting room and Jacuzzi tub. The Gala Suite and the Braeburn both have fireplaces to enhance the romance of your special stay. All rooms offer satellite TV, VHS or DVD players, WIFI, CD player/alarm clocks, air conditioning and ceiling fans.
GUEST SERVICES
Tea and coffee are available throughout the day in the dining room and cold drinks are available in the guest refrigerator. A wonderful gourmet, candlelit breakfast is served in the elegant dining room. Guests may relax in the inviting front parlor or during the warmer weather around the pool. The inviting hot tub is available for relaxation and enjoyment throughout the year. Guests may also enjoy a walk on the rustic property through the old apple orchard or just sit in the Adirondak chairs atop the hill.
A wonderful gourmet breakfast is served between 8 and 9:30 am. Breakfast begins with coffee or tea and freshly baked scones, muffins, rolls or breads followed by a fruit course of fresh fruit, baked apples or poached pears. Some of the delicious entrees you will enjoy are Grand Marnier French toast, Smoked sausage and cheese fritatta, Ebelskiver, Danish bite sized stuffed pancakes or sausage and egg breakfast casserole.
RATES
The Cortland from $110 to $135, Braeburn from $150 to $175 and the Gala suite from $210 to $250.
Check in is between 3 and 6 pm and check out time is 11 am.
DIRECTIONS
From New York City: follow signs for I-95 to I-80 west. Stay on 80W and take exit 53 for Rte 23 (Butler, N.J.) Exit at Rte 515 (Highland Lakes/Vernon). Follow 10 miles to traffic light in Vernon. Continue straight through light onto 94 north for about 0.1 miles Turn left onto Rte 644 (Vernon Crossing Road). At the end of the road turn right onto Rte 517 north. The inn is 4 miles north on left side of road.
